
While many of the Santa Monica hiking trails are maintained by the local government, several of them can be found in private communities. One of the most popular hiking trails in the city is the Santa Monica Mountains Trail which winds around the west side of the city. The trail features spectacular views of the mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Several of the hiking trails in Santa Monica even link up with trails throughout the whole city.

Another popular hiking trail is the Santa Monica Pier Trail which allows hikers to explore the Santa Monica Harbor area. The trail begins near the Pier and goes up a rocky trail to the end of the trail. Here, there is an overlook of the Santa Monica Harbor. Other trails include the Mount Charleston Hiking Trail, Mount Charleston Park, and the Culver City Walkway.

It is easy to find a good hiking trail in Santa Monica. There are numerous hiking clubs in the area that cater to the hiker’s needs. However, it is important to make sure that the trail you choose is safe for hiking and enjoyable for your own backpacking trip.
